L'Eau d'Issey Summer 2016 is a bright, light, and intensely summery fragrance defined by its juicy grapefruit, litchi, and tropical fruit accords. The opening is tart and refreshing — a classic summer citrus burst with lychee and passionfruit notes — making it ideal for warm days. The scent evolves quickly, with a subtle woody and vanilla base that adds softness without dominance. It lacks depth and sillage, feeling close to the skin and fading within a few hours. While it successfully delivers a fresh, beachy vibe and evokes sunny vacations, it is not harmonized in evaluation by many users. Some find the transition from top to base awkward — noticeable notes stick out, particularly in the dry-down, where salty, ozonic, or chemical-like impressions appear. The mix sits too close and gives minimal projection. It is predominantly a daytime, summer-only choice with little subtlety beyond its initial freshness.
