Mont de Narcisse unfolds as a rich, smoky suede leather fragrance with an unexpected airiness and warmth. The opening features a distinct peppery freshness from bergamot and cardamom, balanced by a subtle mentholated lavender and green herbal notes. This quickly settles into a deep, dry, slightly rubbery leather accented with phantom hints of hay and phenolic birch. A sweet, tart plum adds luscious depth, while immortelle introduces honeyed smokiness that softens the leather’s austerity. The vanilla anchors the composition into a plush, aromatic dry-down, giving it a supple, velvety texture that lingers. Though the perfume bears the name of narcissus, few perceive the floral even as a suggestion—its influence seems more in the green, herbal, and spiced facets than in floral clarity. The result is a modern, subtly balsamic suede fragrance, more reminiscent of Hermès Cuir d’Ange than a literal narcissus composition. The sillage is moderate to intimate, longevity is moderate (around 8 hours), and it wears gracefully day to night. The fragrance evokes imagined settings: sun-drenched French countryside fields, a weathered cedar cabin by the sea, or an Auvergne highland landscape by fire. It’s not a narcissus scent in the traditional sense, but rather a layered, open-air leather experience with smoky, green, and sweet undertones.
